1. Empty
I wake
in a moonlit bed,
shaking the sleep
within my head.
Out of the window
she shines
with her reflected
iv’ry light.
“Come out
of that room.
You’ve been hiding
for much
too
long.”
I step out of the
empty house,
filled with sadness
and loneliness
from the days
passed
in the darkness.
I feel the cool grass
beneath my feet.
“Come into
my cool light,
filled with love.
You don’t
need
to be alone
anymore,
my child.
Come into my wide
and loving arms.
I will not let you down
or lead you astray
like the others.”
So I sit on my knees,
and feel Her light
wash over me.
2. Spilled
Caught inside
of her spectral
embrace,
I lie in
the backyard.
Still, there’s
an inkling
of the darkness
inside
of my mind.
“I know
you’ve had to
go it alone,
in the battlefields
against yourself.
But, I’ve always
been there
in your shadow.”
I cry
in the moonlight,
feeling alone.
My thoughts
and feelings
uncontained.
“I know
you’ve had to
be your own strength
with no one to
guide you on.
But I’ve always
been around
you, child.
Turn
around,
darling,
and find yourself
Turn
around,
and let me
guide
you
on.”
I stand up
and look to
the sky,
following
bright moon-steps
into the
glimmering wood.
3. Meadow
A clearing
in the
branches
reveals
a soft circle
of sod.
Pale flowers
scattered
about,
yet my head
is filled up
with doubt.
“Don’t be so quick to
dismiss the good,
beauty’s within you,
as it should.
Reach through the
demons
crowding your head
and look
up to
the sky
once again.”
I sit upon
the dew-
flecked grass,
list’ning
to the night’s song
around.
Lightning bugs
o’er
the field,
but my thoughts
are darkened still.
Someone
save me.
I can’t
find hope.
Luna
unbind me.
“I’m here,
my child.
“Don’t be so quick to
dismiss the good,
beauty’s within you,
as it should.
Reach through the
demons
crowding your head
and look
up to
the sky
once again.
“Oh, look
up to
the sky
once again,
once again.”
4. Crescent
Upon
the edge of a pond,
I see
the light from her
shimmering on
the surface,
with a breeze
in the air.
“I may be covering up
from the
shadow of Earth,
but I am still here,
shining at you
through
the dark.”
Although I
feel alone,
since the shadow is
taking over Her,
I trust she’ll still
be right here,
guarding me from
that wicked
part
of myself.
“I may be
covering up
from the
shadow of Earth,
but I am still here,
shining at you
through
the dark.”
A sliver
is lighting my way,
keeping the evil
at
bay.
“I may be
covering up
from the
shadow of Earth,
but I am still here,
shining at you
through
the dark.
“I’m still here
in
the dark.”
5. Waning
All is dark
as the Moon
is barely
shining
through.
She’s become
a narrow shred,
a fragment.
One that I
can barely
hear.
But I can feel her
strength
in me,
the smallest seedling
planted
in my heart.
So I’ll stay brave
and see this night through,
until my eyes
can once again gaze
upon you.
I’ll try and keep
these demons at bay
with the light
that’s starting to bloom
within me.
Her light
goes out
completely.
I’m scrambling
against
the weight
of the evil ones
trying to
undo me.
But, I’ll stay brave
and see this night through,
until my eyes
can once again gaze
upon you.
I’ll try and keep
these demons at bay
with the light
that’s starting to bloom
within me.
My skin glows
pale opal,
and my assailants
flee to the
surrounding trees.
I’ll stay brave
and see this night through,
until my eyes
can once again gaze
upon you.
I’ll try and keep
these demons at bay
with the light
that’s starting to bloom
within me.
It’s starting to bloom
within me.
6. Precipice
She swings back
into view,
with the lovelight
coming through.
But she does
not speak
to me.
Was it something
that I said,
or something
I once did
long before
you came to me?
It kills me
to be alone,
even though
I can see you still.
Acknowledge
me please.
Was it something
that I said,
or something
I once did
long before
you came to me?
“No, Child,
you are not
to blame.
I still feel the same,
and I hear you
calling out my name.
I’ve just grown
so weak,
and I need
some time
alone.”
Then I see
her turning red,
a scarlet shade
covering her head.
7. Eclipsed, pt. I
The landscape
changes,
and my bones
start shaking
in fear.
The shadows
grow now,
as my eyes
fill up
with tears.
And I don’t know
how I’ll make it
through
this
night.
Trees are
growing limbs
so crooked,
leaves
dripping with
the dark red.
Waters turn
black
as I flee towards
the house.
And from the shadows,
from the stairs,
in the water,
in the air,
there come
evil,
wicked ones.
They want my new Light,
and my old soul.
I shut
the door,
and pull covers
over
my face.
But there are
monsters in my closet
and a demon in my bed.
There’s one on the floor,
and two on the ceiling.
Three at the door
and four
in the window.
There’s twenty in my room,
and hundreds outside.
Save me,
Luna,
don’t leave me
in their presence.
Don’t let them have my soul.
Don’t let them have my soul.
And the shade
leaves
her face,
cleansing the dark ones
from the night.
8. Afterthought
Now she’s but a sliver
again,
peeking out right over
my head.
My heart’s still beating
like
a drum,
and I feel so paranoid.
Will you turn
against me
in the future?
Or will I
turn on you?
How can I trust
you
after all the nightmares?
I don’t know how
to break
this fear.
Moonbeams glinting o’er
the land,
shining down through trees
and clouds,
light my way now,
like
before.
My faith is wavering.
Will you turn
against me
in the future?
Or will I
turn on you?
How can I trust
you
after all the nightmares?
I know I have to
let
it
go,
and accept you back
inside of my
jarred soul,
if I’m to make through
this night,
even in spite of
all
my
fright.
I have to
let it go,
deep inside
my soul.
I have to let it go.
9. Waxing
I leave the house once more,
right outside the door,
and I see old Luna’s face.
A gentle breeze blows
across the
overgrown
grass.
“I’m sorry I turned
on you.
It only happens once in a while.
I admit I’m not perfect,
that I’ve been growing, too.
But now I’m back,
and growing once again.
I’m growing once again.”
I throw my arms wide
to embrace her glow.
She smiles back at me.
I feel her love
cover me,
greater than
before.
“I’m sorry I turned
on you.
It only happens once in a while.
I admit I’m not perfect,
that I’ve been growing, too.
But now I’m back,
and growing once again.
I’m growing once again.”
I send
some love
back in
to her.
And a
cloudless
rain
covers the land.
Her gratefulness grows,
as she grows.
10. Gibbous
My
energy is sapped
from
spilling
forth,
so I
lay upon the ground.
The water
covers my back,
and my
vision goes black.
I can see the stars
revolving now,
coming into focus,
and spinning ‘round.
They’re waving like the ocean.
Then I feel Her love
go into
me,
sinking into
my skin.
I
feel my strength return
as I stagger to the earth.
I can see the stars
revolving now,
coming into focus,
and spinning ‘round.
They’re waving like the ocean.
A tapestry
is
solidifying,
And I no longer
feel I’m dying.
I can see the stars
revolving now,
coming into focus,
and spinning ‘round.
They’re waving like the ocean.
11. River
Through the brush,
we travel through
the woods,
so I can see the River.
It’s flowing fast
and free,
just like the love
running through
me.
Luna disappears.
And as I reach the streamside,
my eyes well up with tears.
A great glowing stag
is lapping up
the water,
and stares
into
my eyes.
Climbing upon his back,
we follow
the River’s flow,
glinting like the snow.
It’s flowing fast
and free,
just like the love
running through
me.
12. Lifted
A lake
is now
before us,
as the River ends,
and so does the forest.
The stag
beckons me to follow
and walks
across
the water.
It feels just like glass,
smooth with moonlit tracks.
Then he turns into stars
that fill my body up.
I’m
lifted up,
into the sky I go.
I can feel
Luna in my ribcage
and headspace,
keeping the evil ones
at bay.
My arms
are
outstretched
as I float up
through the clouds.
I’m
lifted up,
into the sky I go.
I can feel
Luna in my ribcage
and headspace,
keeping the evil ones
at bay.
13. Full
Luna lights up
as Her glow leaves me.
I drift back down
to earth
and look once more
upon Her.
“The time is almost passed,
when the Sun will come
and you’ll
leave us
at last,
the demons and
the creatures of night.
Remember
all you’ve
learned here,
and you will be okay.”
I trace my steps back
to the Meadow,
where I started to trust.
“The time is almost passed,
when the Sun will come
and you’ll
leave us
at last,
the demons and
the creatures of night.
Remember
all you’ve
learned here,
and you will be okay.”
Even with
the light gone
from me,
I feel the love,
I feel the good
that won’t relent
when the dark comes again.
Full of light
and filled with love,
I lay in the grass
and watch the Sun rise.
Then the Twilight comes.
I wake
in a moonlit bed,
shaking the sleep
within my head.
Out of the window
she shines
with her reflected
iv’ry light.
“Come out
of that room.
You’ve been hiding
